•Confirm your exact requirement on the program page first — cut-offs vary by university and even by department.
•For English tests, the Duolingo English Test is cheaper, faster, and increasingly accepted — but check your university takes it.
•Book your test 2–3 months before application deadlines; slots fill up and results take days to weeks.
•If your prior degree was taught in English, ask about an English-test waiver — many universities grant one.
•For local-language study, aim for the certificate a semester early so you're not blocked at the visa stage.
